Positive Affirmations 2/3/2011

By Fiend · February 3, 2011 · 0 Comments · 17 Views

I read this quote today and just wanted to share it with you all:

“We can learn to break the habit of accumulating and perpetuating old emotion by flapping our wings, metaphorically speaking, and refrain from mentally dwelling on the past, regardless of whether something happened yesterday or thirty years ago. We can learn not to keep situations or events alive in our minds, but to return our attention continuously to the pristine, timeless, present moment rather than be caught up in mental movie-making. Our very Presence then becomes our identity, rather than our thoughts and emotions.
Nothing ever happened in the past that can prevent you from being present now; and if the past cannot prevent you from being present now, what power does it have?” Eckhart Tolle

Hi! Remember Me?

By Fiend · November 1, 2010 · 2 Comments · 32 Views

Hi Erveryone!

Omg I have been MIA for soo long, I can't believe I have neglected my blog so much. I will say I have been ghost reading the blogs I subscribe to so I have not been completely MIA, just not participating as i used to. The reason is work is soo crazy and I also take care of my nephew everyday. I feel like Kate Hudson's character where her sister died (my sister is alive) and she is suddenly taking care of her kids. Well he has homework this year so when I get home I have to focus on watching him and then I have my own homework....so pretty much no time for myself. That doesn't mean I have stopped hauling. OH No! TRUST me nothing is going to stop me from hauling like a mad woman lol. I have hauled alot of things since my absence and there is no way for me to show you them all (it's alot trust me). But I plan on slowly getting back into regular posts. I am planning a good sized project for myself which is to swatch all of my nail polishes.

Now I do have a question for you all, I want to know how I should organize my swatches? Any suggestion you have would be great. Right now I am thinking to go by brand then goup by colors.

By Fiend · July 11, 2010 · 0 Comments · 17 Views

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer ($36)
What it is:
Smashbox makeup artists use this product to create a perfect canvas for foundation application.

What it is formulated to do:
The silky blend of vitamins and antioxidants smoothes and perfects skin, while the unique formula helps to inhibit the destruction of collagen, and fills in fine lines and pores for a flawless finish.

What else you need to know:
Use after moisturizer and before foundation for complexion perfection. This skin-soothing blend of antioxidants, which can be worn alone or under foundation, works overtime to fill in fine lines and even out skin texture

Hello Hello, Right now i am trying to be good and not splurge on every little thing that catches my eye, and let me tell you it's soo hard >.< I think i have been pretty good so far and one thing i found that has helped is walking away, researching the product and seeing if it is really something i am going to use frequently or once in the blue. With that said, the product that i have been drooling over for the last month or so and have decided to invest in is this lil beauty from Smashbox. I have heard nothing but good things and i will be picking it up soon. If any of you ladies have experience with this product please let me know, i would love to hear your opinions (good or bad) .

Oh dear, i seem to have lost my (makeup) Mojo :(

Hello hello Everyone.

So this isis just a little update/ramble post. Obviously i havent been posting as much as i used to, ok who am i kidding i haven't been posting at all as of late and it is simply because i am soo busy and stressed at work that when i get home all i do is eat dinner, take care of my nephew then sleep. I have to say the one thing i hate is how negative influences at work can effect you even when you get home. I work in a small office and it used to be such a happy environment and lately because we have been so busy the aura has turned negative. Now i am not going to get into details (you never know who is reading! lol) but my motto has always been "I have no friends at work, don't take it personal". Now people might think, well thats not a nice motto to have in life, but my reason for that is, when people start thinking your friends at work they start to do things and take advantage of the friendship (i.e. asking you for help with their work when your already overworked, then getting upset when you say no you can't, or leaving work early and you end up getting stuck with extra work). I have had people take advantage of me at work and use excuses such as " oh you don't have kids to take care of, oh you don't have a family your single you can stay late i can't" and i have to say thats bullshit. You chose to have kids and a family so along with it you have to take the good and bad and i should not have to take on a part of your burden. I am not saying i would never help a friend, on the contrary i always help which is why they take advantage. But to try to make me feel guilty and make me feel like i'm obligated to help you is very wrong.

Okay this is turning into a rant, i didnt mean to go off the deep end but obviously i had to get that off my chest lol.

anyhoo, i feel much better after that, if you still reading then i wanted to say sorry for the lack of posts, i am going to get back on the ball i promise! it wont be as many posts as i did before but i have some ideas of things to post about and i will probbaly only post on the weekends as i have no time or energy during the week.

I hope everyone is well, drop a comment letting me know how you are and what you've been up to.

NOTD: Orly Nail Polish in "Snowcone"

By Fiend · June 14, 2010 · 5 Comments · 29 Views

Hello hello

Just a quickie post of my first Orly nail polish. i picked the shade "snowcone" because it is such a pretty light pastel blue that is very summery in my mind.

Overall i have to say i LOVE this polish. This was ONE COAT. Yes ONE! Perfect for anyone who is lazy like me and does their nails at last minute (think right before bed). It is a very creamy and easy to apply polish, i am definitely going to pickup more shades and hopefully i get just as good results.

Skincare 101: Simple Routines for Gorgeous Skin

By Fiend · May 13, 2010 · 0 Comments · 20 Views

Skincare 101: Simple Routines for Gorgeous Skin

Renowned beauty expert Laura Mercier, author of The New Beauty Secrets, shares easy morning and nighttime routines for a gorgeous, glowing complexion. Plus, the short list of products you need.

A medicine cabinet filled with a dozen different jars, tubes, and bottles does not guarantee good skin. You can max out your credit card on the latest creams and serums, but the truth is you need only a few things. Maybe you love skincare and trying the newest items is a passion of yours. That's fine, but don't be a skincare shopaholic because you worry about missing the one item that will make all the difference in the world. It doesn't exist yet, and when it does, we'll all know, because Oprah will probably tell us.

Regardless of your age, your face can fare very well with a few targeted items, listed as follows:

Your A.M. Routine
1. If you've cleansed properly the night before, you don't need to wash your face when you wake up. Splashing your face with water is just fine, although I personally like using a light cleanser. It makes my skin more supple and opens the pores so they can absorb moisturizer.

2. Apply your serum or treatment product if directions specify daytime and nighttime usage.

3. Apply your moisturizer with SPF or you can use a separate sunscreen if you're going to be exposed to very strong sun. If you want to wear makeup over your sunscreen, make sure it's a lightweight sunscreen. Some sunscreens are not compatible with makeup, and it's difficult to apply products on top of them.

4. Apply your eye cream under your eye only. It's not necessary to use it on your eyelid in the morning, and it will interfere with any eye makeup you are wearing.

Your P.M. Routine
1. Before you go to bed, you must wash your face. Otherwise, you're asking for blackheads, breakouts, and flare-ups. Do you really want to fall asleep with all that accumulated dirt, pollution, bacteria, and makeup on your face? This is something I've always been very good about. During my wilder days, when I'd come home at six in the morning after dancing all night, I'd always wash my face. I couldn't stand the idea of my dirty face touching my pillow. If washing your face every night isn't a habit for you already, it will become one over time, just like brushing your teeth.

If you're not wearing much makeup, use a cleanser that doubles as a makeup remover. Make sure it's a cleanser for your skin type and one that doesn't contain too much fragrance and detergent. You don't need those things when you just want to clean your face. If you are wearing makeup, use a specific remover and some quality cotton pads to get everything off, especially your eye makeup.

Follow with a cleanser for your skin type and pat your face dry.

2. If you're using a serum or special treatment product, then the time to use it is after cleansing. (If you prefer, you can skip this step and move right to moisturizing.) Generally, serums go under your moisturizer. Use a few drops or as much as directed and smooth onto your skin. Unless directions specify that you must use day and night, you can reserve this step for your P.M. routine and use once a day.

3. Moisturize with a cream or lotion that's SPF-free (you certainly don't need SPF at night!) or a night cream. Don't slap the cream onto your face, neck, and chest; really massage it in. That doesn't mean using half the contents of the jar, but taking the time to literally push the amount of product you need for your skin type into your pores while they are still open and boost the circulation to your face in the process.

4. Apply your eye cream gently around your entire eye area, including your eyelid, but be careful not to get it into your eye. Again, take the time to really work it into your skin. Look for an eye cream that is packed with benefits, not one that simply moisturizes.

Happy Earth Day! (check out 10 simple tips for being more green)

By Fiend · April 22, 2010 · 0 Comments · 26 Views

1. CHANGE YOUR LIGHT BULBS (or a all of them!)
If every household in the United State replaced one regular lightbulb with one of those new compact fluorescent bulbs, the pollution reduction would be equivalent to removing one million cars from the road.

Don’t like the color of light? Use these bulbs for closets, laundry rooms and other places where it won’t irk you as much.

2. TURN OFF COMPUTERS AT NIGHT
By turning off your computer instead of leaving it in sleep mode, you can save 40 watt-hours per day. That adds up to 4 cents a day, or $14 per year. If you don’t want to wait for your computer to start up, set it to turn on automatically a few minutes before you get to work, or boot up while you’re pouring your morning cup ‘o joe.

3. RECYCLE (or almost everything you use!!!)
Recycled glass reduces related air pollution by 20 percent and related water pollution by 50 percent. If it isn’t recycled it can take a million years to decompose. (my personal note… almost everyone has this at their fingertips now. It’s always sad to see people’s trash sitting by the road overflowing, and noticing they don’t have a recycling bin next to their can. Or if that bin is almost empty. If you don’t have a pick-up, then check your local area as there are tons of places that can take stuff.)

Twenty recycled aluminium cans can be made with the energy it takes to manufacture one brand new one.

Every ton of glass recycled saves the equivalent of nine gallons of fuel oil needed to make glass from virgin materials.

4. GO VEGETARIAN ONCE A WEEK (one of my favorites – but I go 7 days a week!)
One less meat-based meal a week helps the planet and your diet. For example: It requires 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef. You will also also save some trees. For each hamburger that originated from animals raised on rainforest land, approximately 55 square feet of forest have been destroyed.

5. BRUSH WITHOUT RUNNING (I think I learned this from the Cosby Show or Fat Albert!)
You’ve heard this one before, but maybe you still do it. You’ll conserve up to five gallons per day if you stop. Daily savings in the U.S. alone could add up to 1.5 billion gallons–more water than folks use in the Big Apple.

6. RETHINK BOTTLED WATER
Nearly 90% of plastic water bottles are not recycled, instead taking thousands of years to decompose. Buy a reusable container and fill it with tap water, a great choice for the environment, your wallet, and possibly your health. The EPA’s standards for tap water are more stringent than the FDA’s standards for bottled water.

7. TURN OFF LIGHTS (love this one, especially if no one is around)
Always turn off incandescent bulbs when you leave a room. Fluorescent bulbs are more affected by the number of times it is switched on and off, so turn them off when you leave a room for 15 minutes or more. You’ll save energy on the bulb itself, but also on cooling costs, as lights contribute heat to a room.

8. GIVE IT AWAY (we’ve done this and it’s very fulfilling in the end)
Before you throw something away, think about if someone else might need it. Either donate to a charitable organization or post it on a web site designed to connect people and things, such as Freecycle.org.

9. PLASTIC BAGS SUCK (I think we all know this by now right?)
Each year the U.S. uses 84 billion plastic bags, a significant portion of the 500 billion used worldwide. They are not biodegradable, and are making their way into our oceans, and subsequently, the food chain. Stronger, reusable bags are an inexpensive and readily available option.

10. RECYCLE UNWANTED WIRE HANGERS (my wife is too smart, she’s been doing this for years!)
Wire hangers are generally made of steel, which is often not accepted by some recycling programs. So what do you do with them? Most dry cleaners will accept them back to reuse or recycle. (Cue Joan Crawford.)
